A value study I did of a Prince Valiant composition thumb I had done a few days ago. Like with the Tarzan value study, I like this one, although I will change the lighting so that it "converges" on Prince Valiant rather than his foe. This will help attract attention to Val who is the main focus of the composition. All value studies done on toned paper, 11" x 14".

I like this pose for a Tarzan Illustration, so I decided to do a value study on a simple drawing to see if it has potential. I like it, so I think I will take some reference pictures with a model and the right lighting, and then start painting from there. 

Some of the several sketches I have done, trying to get a composition for my next two Illo's (Prince Valiant and Tarzan). As always, these are done in pencil on 80lb paper (my sketchbook).

Some additional detail added to this Illo. Still quite a ways to go, but I think I'm getting there.
