Composition study for a new Conan study I'm tentatively calling "Conan Battle Portrait". Charcoal on paper, 18" x 24".

Several thumbs I did trying to settle on an idea for a new Conan Illo.

Another study for a "Conan at rest" idea.

I'm in the last weeks of class and inundated with a lot of  work, so my output for the Thesis has been very limited. I still managed to make this quick sketch as an idea for a Conan painting.

These are simple sketches I did trying to get inspired for a Dhejah Thoris composition.

This is a black and white study of the fight scene done in Photoshop. It still has several errors, but it gives me an idea of what route I should take if I decide to take this to a canvas one day.

A background study done quickly with pencils on paper. About 4" x 8.5"

The background with the Photoshop figures aligned with the horizon level.

This is an assignment for class, but it is also a test run for a possible Prince Valiant Illo. Photoshop over inks.

I'm fininshing this one (for now). I may add additional detail later, but I think this is it at the moment. "Conan the Buccaneer", oils on gessoed illustration board. 14" x 18"

Final pencil composition and color progress for "Conan the Buccaneer".

Some additional thumbs featuring Conan and John Carter, plus pictures of my model ( and by that I mean me) arranged in the way I chose my composition to be.
